During the mid-1900s, female artists began using art as a tool to amplify the inequalities that women artists face in the United States. Artists such as Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, and Simone Leigh have long advocated for womens’ rights through text, video, performance, mass media imagery, and collage. With these artists as our guide, children will collage their own message of empowerment to share with their peers.
